From a household maid —
to this life.

I was working as a household maid. The pay was small, the work was hard, and the future looked exactly like today — every day, forever.

I'm not going to pretend it was fine. It wasn't. There were months I didn't know how things would work out.

Something changed. For me it wasn't one big moment — it was a decision, and then another one after that. And underneath both of them, my faith was doing something I didn't fully understand at the time: it was keeping me steady while everything else was uncertain.

I started learning. I started building. Slowly. While I was still doing the other work. Nothing about it was instant.

The income changed. But before that, something on the inside changed — how I saw myself, what I believed I was allowed to want, and Who I trusted with the outcome.

There were still hard stretches. Building anything costs something. Faith didn't remove the cost — it just meant I never carried it alone.

Today I host WANAWAKE LIVE TV, and I founded Haki za Wanawake Foundation — fighting for women's economic empowerment and the rights of domestic workers, because I was that girl. I know what it is to have no voice and no leverage.
